The 4th of July is here, and it’s time to celebrate the independence of America by decorating everything in Red, White, and Blue for the holiday. We generally should not even think of walking on the American Flag, but in this case I think we have to make an exception.

Why not greet your 4th of July holiday guests with a pretty 4th of July American Flag accent rug in your home? Well, here at our house we thought it would make for a wonderful entrance accent rug, so we set out to find the perfect American Flag holiday 4th of July accent rug.

I have to tell you, they were actually hard to find. There are not many “flag rugs” out there, let alone an American Flag rug. But I was able to find a few:

I have to tell you, though, that I prefer the one that I’ve pictured at the top of this blog post. I would also like to note that horribly frustrating experience at Brookstone. Apparently Brookstone finds it necessary to show up in the search engines for “flag rug” but they do not actually offer one for sale! Now why would a large company like Brookstone actually spam the search engines, saying that they have a “flag rug” and not even offer one for sale?

Your kitchen can easily be brightened up. You don’t have to be really creative in order to take this ancient tradition to a new level: use an accent rug to spice up your kitchen.

There are many different styles, colors and designs of accent rugs out there: If you have a modern kitchen and would like to keep it looking that way, you might want to use a vintage art-deco style accent rug. If your personal taste happens to lean more towards a homey style, try choosing a braided accent rug. Accent Rugs can come with floral designs: they can match almost any kitchen accent colors you’ve chosen. No matter what type of kitchen accent rug you use, it will pull your kitchen’s theme together and give it a warm, welcoming feeling.

Accent rugs also range greatly in price, quality and materials. If you are looking for a fancy, nicer rug you would want to go with something made of wool, faux fur or even real fur. There are less expensive ones as well however. Most kitchen accent rugs, in fact, will be made of acrylic. Another fancy style of rug you have to choose from is the silk rug. These rugs could be real or artificial silk yarn, but either way it will soft and smooth and really add charm and elegance to your kitchen.

The most luxurious accent rug for your kitchen you could have in your kitchen, though, is a hand-woven sheep wool rug. These accent rugs are going to be incredibly shaggy and soft. These accent rugs tend to accentuate the beauty of your kitchen. They come in natural colors and tones, matching almost any kitchen easy. Those accent rugs also come in a variety of weights and thicknesses. So, you can pick the one that best fits your style, comfort and budget; the thicker and fluffier the rug, the higher the price. With a rug like this you may end up dirtying dishes just so you can stand on your new rug.

There are hundreds of other options when it comes to kitchen accent rugs. Everything from a bamboo accent rug to give your kitchen a more classy, hardwood floor look–to an embroidered cotton pile accent rug. Whatever your desire, no matter what accent rug you use in your kitchen, you will be doing your family and your kitchen a favor.

One of the things you can do is to find some accent rugs to add to your home.

Want to give your home the sprucing up that it needs? Try looking for some washable accent rugs that will add style and vibrancy to your rooms. Accent rugs are practical: and they can add a dash of color to an otherwise “dull” looking room, without making the room seem too loud or gaudy. Washable accent rugs can be used in a big room to make smaller “sitting areas”.

In the smaller rooms in your house, you can use an accent rug to brighten up the area. Many washable accent rugs have patterns or even artwork on them; some can even have a photo put on it. Use an accent rug to jazz up your kitchen with your kitchen “them”. A country kitchen, for example, would have country accents. So, why not jazz up your country kitchen with a nice looking rooster rug? Or maybe cows are your thing? Perhaps an accent rug with a cow on it would be nice?

Many accent rugs are washable, meaning that you can put them to your washing machine and wash them. It’s important to note the washing instructions, though, as you may only need to wash it with a mild soap and detergent and hang it out to dry. The larger accent rugs that we have around our house are washed on an “as needed” basis, meaning that we spot clean it when needed and hose it down outside, leaving it to out to dry on the outside railing.

Washable accent rugs can be great for the kids’ bedrooms, as well. Many kids like to have their bedrooms filled with their favorite animal, favorite movie star, or their favorite Disney character. Accent rugs can make a great addition to the bedroom, simply find one that the little one likes and put it right over the more highly trafficked areas of the bedroom. Adding it to the area where there’s a lot of foot traffic will most likely help cut down on having to clean the main carpet in the room.

Another great place for your accent rug would be the entrance to a room, perhaps even at the main entrance to your house. This will help protect the underlying floor or carpet from getting soiled–particularly if  it’s a high traffic area. If you’re planning on using an accent rug on bare hardwood flooring, you might consider investing in a rug pad or two sided carpet tape so that the rug stays in place.

Accent rugs don’t have to be tied down to one area of your house. Once you own one, consider moving to other areas of the house from time to time. Just by moving it to another area of the house or swapping out one accent rug for another accent rug will give you that new “home makeover” look once again.
